Abstract: Madrasah is an Islamic educational institution that plays a strategic role in integrating general education with religious values. The increasing diversity of educational institutions has made community interest one of the important factors in the sustainability and development of madrasahs. This study aims to determine the level of community interest in madrasah education in Bendorejo Village, Pogalan District, Trenggalek Regency, and to analyze the factors influencing community decisions in choosing madrasahs as educational institutions for their children. This study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive method. The population of this research consisted of the people of Bendorejo Village who have school-age children, with a sample size of 100 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through percentage calculations and mean score analysis.
The results showed that community interest in madrasah education was categorized as high. A total of 84% of respondents expressed their interest and strong interest in enrolling their children in madrasahs. The average score of community perceptions toward madrasahs was 4.30, indicating a positive assessment of the existence of these educational institutions. The most dominant factors influencing community interest were the quality of religious education, with an average score of 4.63, and the ability of madrasahs to develop students’ character, with an average score of 4.51. The findings indicate that madrasahs continue to gain strong public trust because they are able to fulfill academic educational needs while simultaneously fostering students’ religious character.
